Privacy Policy

Last updated 25 July 2026

This site (evansakanyijuka.art) is operated by Evans Akanyijuka, an independent visual artist based in Kampala, Uganda ("I", "me"). This policy explains what personal data is collected here and how it's used.

The short version

This site does not use cookies, analytics, or trackers. It doesn't run ads. There is no user account system and no database storing your personal data. The only personal data that reaches me is what you choose to send — by messaging me on WhatsApp, emailing me, or entering your email to pay for an order.

Browsing the site

Simply browsing — viewing the artwork, the archive, or the shop — collects nothing about you. Your hosting provider (Vercel) may log standard technical data (IP address, request time) for security and uptime purposes; I don't have access to this beyond aggregate, non-identifying metrics.

Shop inquiries (WhatsApp / email)

Most prints and merch on this site are sold by direct inquiry. Tapping "WhatsApp" or "email" opens your own WhatsApp or mail app with a pre-filled message — that message, along with your phone number or email address, is sent directly to me through WhatsApp or Gmail. It never passes through or is stored on this site's server. From that point, how WhatsApp/Meta or Google handle your data is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. I use the details you send only to fulfil and ship your order, and I don't share them with anyone beyond what's needed to do that (e.g. a courier).

Card / mobile money checkout

Open-edition items may offer direct checkout via Pesapal (card, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money). If you use this, the email address you enter is sent to Pesapal to generate your order and receipt — this site's server passes it along but does not store it. Card numbers and mobile money PINs are entered directly on Pesapal's hosted payment page; I never see or hold that information. Pesapal's own privacy and security practices govern how that payment data is handled.

What I don't do

Your rights

Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and — for visitors in the EU/UK — the GDPR, you can ask me at any time to tell you what data I hold about you (typically: an email/phone number and an order reference, nothing more), correct it, or delete it. Email contact@evansakanyijuka.art and I'll respond within a reasonable time.

Changes

If this site starts using analytics, cookies, or a persistent order database, this page will be updated first to reflect that before the change goes live.
